Placements24 is assisting a leading engineering and environmental consultancy in Rustenburg, North West, to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer with strong mining and civil infrastructure exposure. You will lead site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and advise on foundations, slope stability and earthworks, working with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA.
• 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably with mining exposure.
• Proficiency in geotechnical investigation techniques and laboratory testing.
• Experience with geotechnical software for modeling and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform laboratory testing and analysis of soil and rock samples.
• Conduct stability analyses for slopes, excavations, and retaining structures.
• Design foundations for buildings, bridges, and mining-related infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, including site supervision and quality control.
• Collaborate with geologists, mining engineers, and civil engineers on project teams.
• Assess geological hazards and provide mitigation strategies relevant to North West province.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering and environmental consultancy, is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Rustenburg, North West . This role is integral to supporting the region's thriving mining sector and expanding civil infrastructure development. You will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and providing expert recommendations for foundations, slope stability, and earthworks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of geotechnical principles and their application in both mining and construction contexts within Rustenburg . This is a key position that offers significant exposure to diverse geological conditions and large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proficiency in geotechnical investigation techniques and laboratory testing procedures.
• Expertise in geotechnical software for numerical modeling and analysis.
• Strong understanding of South African geological conditions and mining practices.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage projects and client relationships effectively in Rustenburg .
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote sites.
