Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer for projects around Mahikeng, North West. The role involves assessing subsurface conditions, designing foundations, slope stability analyses, and delivering geotechnical solutions for diverse construction projects.

The successful candidate will conduct site investigations, prepare comprehensive reports, and collaborate with engineers and clients in a hybrid work setting. Travel to project sites within Mahikeng region is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotech focus.
Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years in geotechnical investigation, analysis and design.
Proficiency with geotechnical software and site testing techniques.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance and soil sampling.
Analyze subsurface data to assess risks and suitability for construction.
Design shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls and earth structures.
Perform slope stability analyses and mitigation strategies for landslides and erosion.
Prepare geotechnical reports with design recommendations.
Provide technical guidance during construction and oversee earthworks.
Collaborate with structural and civil engineers, architects and clients.
Ensure compliance with geotechnical codes and standards.
