Placements24 is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our client in Nelspruit (Mbombela). The role focuses on field investigations, soil and rock assessments, and delivering comprehensive reports with design recommendations to support infrastructure projects across Mpumalanga.

The position involves a hybrid work model with a balance of fieldwork and office analysis, enabling flexible scheduling while maintaining rigorous data interpretation and reporting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of geotechnical site investigations experience.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience with various site investigation techniques and equipment is essential.
• Proficiency in geotechnical data interpretation and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute field geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and sampling.
• Oversee drilling operations and ensure proper data collection methods are employed.
• Perform laboratory testing and interpret results to determine soil and rock properties.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports, including recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and slope stability.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and project teams on geotechnical matters.
• Ensure all investigations and reporting comply with relevant industry standards and best practices.
