Job summary

Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, seeks an experienced Geologist with a focus on structural and stratigraphic interpretation to join a cohesive Oil & Gas team. You will interpret well logs, cores and seismic data, develop subsurface models and identify hydrocarbon bearing structures while collaborating with geophysicists and reservoir engineers in a hybrid work setup.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in Geology with at least 6 years' relevant experience and strong modeling software skills

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in geological analysis with oil & gas focus.
• Expertise in well log interpretation, core analysis and seismic interpretation.
• Proficiency with Petrel, ArcGIS and Kingdom.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy.
• Excellent analytical and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural and stratigraphic analysis of geological data, including well logs, core samples, and seismic data.
• Develop and refine geological models that accurately represent subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Identify and map potential hydrocarbon reservoirs and seals.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate geological interpretations into exploration and development plans.
• Conduct geological risk assessments and contribute to prospect evaluation.
• Prepare geological reports, cross-sections, maps, and presentations.
• Stay current with geological software and techniques for subsurface analysis.
• Participate in hybrid team meetings and provide geological insights.
• Assist in the planning and execution of field geological programs when required.
