Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Geologist to lead mineral resource evaluation in a fully remote role focused on Klerksdorp, North West. You will develop and validate 3D geological models, run geostatistical analyses, and prepare comprehensive resource reports compliant with JORC codes.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in exploration, strong software skills (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine, Isatis, Supervisor), and a track record of robust, auditable reporting.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic exploration and development company, is seeking a highly skilled Geologist with a strong background in mineral resource evaluation to join their team, supporting operations related to Klerksdorp, North West . This role is pivotal in assessing the economic viability and geological potential of prospective mineral assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, validating, and managing geological models, conducting geostatistical analysis, and preparing comprehensive resource reports that comply with international standards such as the JORC Code. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geostatisticians, mine engineers, and geochemists, to deliver robust resource estimates. This position requires a meticulous approach, exceptional analytical skills, and a deep understanding of mineral systems and deposit types relevant to the region. As this role is fully remote, you will leverage advanced communication and data management tools to work effectively with teams across different locations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, interpret, and validate geological models based on exploration data, including drillhole data, geological mapping, and assay results.
• Perform geostatistical analyses to estimate mineral resources and reserves, ensuring compliance with JORC or similar reporting codes.
• Collaborate closely with geostatisticians to define estimation domains, select appropriate estimation methods, and perform sensitivity analyses.
• Integrate data from various sources (geology, geophysics, geochemistry) to build comprehensive 3D geological interpretations.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and documentation detailing geological interpretations and resource estimates for internal use and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to exploration target generation and strategic planning based on resource assessments.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geologists involved in resource evaluation activities.
• Ensure data integrity and maintain geological databases for projects related to the North West region.
• Communicate effectively with remote teams and management regarding project progress, challenges, and findings.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Economic Geology from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mineral exploration and resource geology, with a proven track record in resource estimation.
• Strong proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., "Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Micromine") and geostatistical software (e.g., Isatis, Supervisor).
• In-depth understanding of geostatistical principles and resource classification criteria (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and technically accurate reports.
• High level of self-discipline and motivation, essential for a remote work environment.
• Effective virtual collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with South African geology, particularly in the Klerksdorp area, is highly desirable.
