Placements24 seeks a Geological Engineer to join the exploration team in Cape Town. You will perform subsurface characterization, data interpretation, and contribute to geological models guiding exploration efforts.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Geological Engineer to join their exploration team in Cape Town . This role is integral to identifying and evaluating new energy resources, contributing essential geological expertise to the company's long-term strategic goals. You will be involved in subsurface characterization, data interpretation, and contributing to the geological models that guide exploration efforts. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key part in uncovering potential energy reserves in challenging terrains, operating within a company that values technical excellence and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and analysis of subsurface data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models to define prospectivity and risk in exploration areas.
• Interpret geophysical and geological data to identify potential hydrocarbon or mineral deposits.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on prospect generation and evaluation.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and well proposals for internal review and stakeholder communication.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations during field operations and data acquisition.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related geoscience discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in exploration geology or geological engineering, preferably in the energy industry .
• Strong skills in geological software for modeling and interpretation (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
• Experience with seismic data interpretation and structural geology.
• Knowledge of sedimentary basins and hydrocarbon systems.
• Excellent analytical, teamwork, and communication abilities.
