Job summary

Valterra Platinum in Limpopo is seeking a General Miner responsible for blasting under MHSA guidelines. The role covers moving personnel, material and ore within the mining area, and contributing to safe, efficient blasting operations on site.

You will assist the mining team, manage explosives, and prepare blasting areas to standard. A valid blasting certificate for underground hard rock and 1–3 years' experience are preferred; contract position based at Borwa Mine, Burgersfort.

Qualifications

Must have Grade 12/NQF 3 Rock Breaker cert or blasting certificate for underground hard rock.
1 to 3 years' experience in underground blasting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Move personnel, materials, and ore within the mining area.
Manage explosives and prepare blasting areas to standard for safe blasting.
Contribute to the mining team with execution of blasting-related tasks.

Education

Grade 12 National Certificate NQF Level 3 Rock Breaker or Valid Blasting Certificate for underground (Hard Rock)

About the Role

The General Miner has a legal accountability for construction blasting in terms of the MHSA and will be required to contribute and assist the mining team with the execution of all tasks relating to the role. The role for a General Miner is varied in the mining structure from moving men, material and ore to construction within the mining domain. Manage explosives and prepare blasting area to standard to ensure safe effective blasting.
