Job summary

Pick n Pay in Gauteng is seeking a GMD Supervisor to oversee the General Merchandise Department. You will lead staff, supervise stock control, merchandising, and customer service to achieve sales targets.

The role requires ensuring shelves are stocked, prices correct, and displays are attractive, while enforcing health and safety standards. Applicants should have Grade 12, retail supervisory experience, strong leadership, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in stock control, merchandising and inventory management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Basic computer literacy and experience with retail systems.
• Good numerical and administrative skills.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the General Merchandise Department.
• Ensure department is clean, organised, and well presented.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and productivity.
• Allocate daily tasks and ensure duties are completed.
• Ensure products are displayed according to merchandising standards.
• Train staff on merchandising, customer service, and procedures.
• Monitor sales performance and stock control and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with safety and loss-prevention procedures.
