Job summary

Pronel Personnel assists a manufacturing client in KwaZulu-Natal to appoint a General Manager: Plant Engineering & Facilities. This senior role leads reliability, maintenance, facilities and engineering compliance to ensure safe, stable and high uptime production.

The candidate will build systems, develop technical teams and manage budgets, maintenance planning and shutdowns across presses, automated lines and utilities in a high‑throughput plant.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and a relevant engineering qualification.
• NQF 7 in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering.
• BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• GCC Factories certification.

• Lead Asset Reliability and maintenance strategy for plant operations.

Are you a senior engineering professional with strong experience in plant engineering, maintenance and reliability within a manufacturing or industrial environment?

Our client is looking for a General Manager: Plant Engineering & Facilities to lead the reliability, maintenance, facilities and engineering compliance functions within a manufacturing environment.

This is a senior operational leadership role suited to a practical engineering leader who can build effective systems, develop technical teams and ensure that plant, equipment, infrastructure and utilities support safe, stable and reliable production.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12.
• NQF 7 in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification.
• BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• GCC Factories.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Minimum 5 years' experience leading maintenance, reliability, plant engineering or asset management teams.
• Proven experience implementing and improving preventative, predictive and planned maintenance systems.
• Experience leading artisans, technicians, contractors and technical teams.
• Strong experience in engineering compliance, machinery safety, risk controls and statutory inspections.
• Experience with maintenance budgets, critical spares, shutdown planning and contractor management.
• Exposure to presses, automated lines, welding systems, conveyors, robotics, utilities and high-uptime production environments.
