Job description

GENERAL CONDUCT:
  • To uphold the values of Mayfair Gearbox through effective time management, transparent communication, committed teamwork & consistent quality workmanship. To maintain the culture of organizational excellence, constantly striving to improve services, technical knowledge & customer commitment. To act in a manner that will in no way bring the organization and its reputation into disrepute.

OVERALL FUNCTION OF ROLE:
  • Manage all company functions, leading the organization to success through driving all business units to meet or exceed targets, through implementing strategies to increase productivity and overall business efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Provide leadership, support and management to ensure that the vision, mission and culture within Mayfair Gearbox are maintained within all relevant departments, ensuring these are exhibited and promoted by all management.

  • Ensure that the company values are suitably communicated across all levels of the organization, and are exhibited by the entire management team.

  • Actively plan for succession planning for own role as well as other strategic roles within the organization.

  • Communicate KPI's and benchmarks to direct subordinates ensuring these are maintained, monitored, measured and reported on. Ensure performance appraisals are conducted throughout the organization twice a year, vetting the process.

  • Implement, monitor and maintain all activities associated with driving the strategic goals and objectives of the executive team, providing progress reports at specified intervals.

  • Lead business innovation & improvement by identifying and implementing measurable improvement projects that drive continuous improvement within the organization.Effectively manage and plan for key business risks.

  • Actively strive for improved overall business efficiency through facilitating cost, process & productivity analysis by the entire management team.

  • Ensure efficient & suitable use of all business resources.

  • Ensure necessary health and safety & ISO processes and systems are enforced throughout the organization.

  • Ensuring that training is facilitated to ensure that the entire workforce are able to respond in emergency situations i.e. evacuation procedures.

  • Monitoring & maintenance of processes ensuring they are effectively implemented to manage administrative, logistical, human resources, and financial portfolios, to bolster business growth and support long- term business sustainability.

  • Review and analysis of all business activities, company costs, operations and forecast data to ensure company targets are attained.

  • Responsible for all duties pertaining to line management, including but not limited to; targets, basic labour relations, customer satisfaction, role clarification, product training, team motivation & inter-departmental coordination.

  • Actively develop management & the entire business team to ensure they are suitably skilled and able to fulfill their functions through activities including but not limited to, hosting workshops, out sourcing training etc, supporting the management team in this endeavour.

  • Develop and maintain professional and technical knowledge by identifying and attending relevant workshops.

  • Effectively manage all WIP for the branch, facilitating the daily production meetings.

  • Overall control off company expenses through effectively overseeing company financial resources. Appropriate allocation of costs and financial report analysis.

  • Budget development and monitoring of performance to budget, reporting to the executive team as necessary.

  • Direct the preparation and submission of all monthly/quarterly & weekly financial targets and forecasts.

  • Address all relevant customer and employee issues promptly, within the ethical guidelines and practices of the organization, facilitating action as necessary.

  • Oversee all recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, planning and monitoring of employees through building a robust and loyal management team.

  • Ensure conflict resolution is conducted in a way that is in line with the ethics and values of the organization.

  • Liaise with the workshop, marketing, procurement and accounts as necessary to facilitate prioritized action.

  • Facilitate action to generate additional sales when work load is running low.

  • Maintain strategic customer relationships through locating areas of improvement, negotiating ongoing contracts and proposing corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities.

  • Keep abreast of international purchasing and what this means to business to ensure that opportunities to improve profits are leveraged.

  • Sign off all quotes / job cards before issued / invoiced to customers.

  • Approval of all work orders and purchase orders within relevant authority limits for specific departments.

  • Oversee monthly stock take activities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Matric

  • Red Seal Technician qualification

SPECIFIC SKILL / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT:

  • Parts experience will be advantageous
