Job summary

Boardroom Appointments in Gauteng seeks a General Manager to oversee the safe, efficient operations of the Manufacturing value chain at the Mill units, in preparation for upskilling site resources.

The General Manager will lead a multidisciplinary management team to achieve safety, quality, cost, HR capability, development and cultural change while pursuing opportunities to improve practices, processes and strategies across the site.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in management, business administration or engineering.
• Five or more years in a management role in manufacturing.
• Industrial relations experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery and drive improvements of site Safety, Health, Environment and Risk programs.
• Lead a multidisciplinary management team to achieve business plan objectives.
• Develop an effective, capable and high performing operational organisation.
• Lead, Drive and Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement in all aspects of the business.
• Determine and implement operating strategies, including optimisation programs to minimise operating cost and improve product quality.
• Help in the forecasting and planning for ongoing operational needs, including technology, facilities, equipment and manpower.
• Forster and co-manage a constructive industrial relations climate at the facilities.
• Ensure compliance with all legislative environment requirement permits.

Main Purpose:
