Job summary

Fluor in Johannesburg is seeking a General Buyer to manage procurement for mining and engineering operations. Based in Johannesburg, the role focuses on PO administration, supplier expediting, and strategic sourcing to ensure timely supply of goods and services.

The successful candidate will have a Matric, a CIPS Level 3 certificate, data/analytics credentials, and at least 2 years of procurement experience in mining/engineering, plus strong Excel and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 completed.
• CIPS Level 3: Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.
• Data and analytics certification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' procurement experience in Mining/Engineering.
• Advanced Excel skills and data literacy.

Responsibilities

• Purchase Order Administration: Create and convert approved requisitions into POs; ensure POs issued accurately and quickly.
• Expediting & Supplier Follow-Up: Expedite open orders and back orders; follow up on deliveries for on-time supply.
• Tactical Buying & Sourcing: Source routine, low-risk commodities within authority; obtain competitive quotations.
• Supplier & Invoice Administration: Resolve invoice, pricing, and GRN discrepancies with suppliers and Finance; follow up on documentation.
• Master Data Management: Maintain item master information in the ERP system.
• Reporting & KPI Support: Compile procurement reports; update open order and overdue delivery reports.
• General Procurement Support: Provide workload relief to Buyers across categories; assist with procurement projects.
• Procurement Efficiency: Track PO cycle time and number of PRs processed per month.

An exciting opportunity is now available for a General Buyer to manage the procurement of goods and services required to support business operations. The position is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Job Responsibilities

• Purchase Order Administration
  • Create and convert approved purchase requisitions into Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Ensure POs are issued accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
• Expediting & Supplier Follow-Up
  • Proactively expedite open orders and back orders.
  • Follow up on scheduled deliveries to ensure on-time supply.
• Tactical Buying & Sourcing
  • Source routine and low-risk commodities within delegated purchasing authority.
  • Obtain competitive quotations from approved suppliers.
• Supplier & Invoice Administration
  • Resolve invoice, pricing, and Goods Received Note (GRN)discrepancies with suppliers and Finance.
