Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an experienced EMS Supervisor to lead our Elandsfontein workshop, supervising a team of employees and contractors to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality repair, refurbishment, assembly and testing of mechanical equipment, especially gearboxes.

The role requires hands‑on leadership, technical proficiency, strong safety focus and the ability to drive continuous improvement while delivering exceptional service to customers.

Qualifications

• Progressive supervisory experience in a mechanical workshop or engineering environment.
• Sound knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage workshop activities to meet timelines.
• Supervise gearbox overhaul, refurbishment, repair, assembly and testing per OEM specs.
• Attend to breakdowns and repair requests.
• Promote safety through toolbox talks and behavioural safety initiatives.
• Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, quality standards and customer requirements.
• Manage inventory of components, consumables, bearings, seals and lubricants.
• Oversee maintenance and calibration of workshop equipment and instruments.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, OEMs and internal stakeholders.
