Job summary

The Capital Hotels seeks a Gardener to maintain gardens, pools and hotel grounds, including basic decorating tasks. The role supports guest areas and outdoor spaces, ensuring safety and aesthetic appeal.

Applicants should have 1–2 years of gardening experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well with staff and guests. Relocation costs are the applicant’s responsibility where applicable.

Qualifications

• Gardening experience: 1–2 years in maintenance or horticulture.
• Hands-on problem solving and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Team player with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with guests and staff.
• Presentable appearance and trustworthy conduct.
• Attention to detail and proactive in task handling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, pools, grounds and hotel areas; assist with basic decorating.
• Respond to maintenance issues logged during a shift and via verbal instructions.
• Collaborate with hotel staff to ensure clean, safe, and welcoming outdoor spaces.

Description:

The Gardner ensures a smooth and consistent resolution to maintenance issues logged during a shift and via verbal instructions. Areas of responsibility include: Security, Pools, Grounds, Hotel Rooms and any other area of the Hotel. The role will include general DIY and maintenance including basic decorating.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• 1 - 2 Year previous Gardening experience
• Additional qualifications within the field advantageous (Salary Dependent)
• Hands on Problem Solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Effective communication with members of staff as well as Guests of the Hotel
• Honest and trustworthy beyond approach
• Great attention to detail
• Presentable and well spoken
