Job summary

The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts is seeking a Hands-on Handyman to maintain and repair hotel facilities across security, pools, grounds, and rooms. The role requires carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with hotel staff, handle multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality fixes while ensuring guest comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent
• 3-5 years handyman/maintenance experience
• Hands-on problem solving approach under pressure
• Team player with good communication and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs across hotel areas including security, pools, grounds, and guest rooms.
• Handle basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating tasks as required.
• Work as part of a team or independently to resolve issues promptly and safely.

Description:

The Handyman ensures a smooth and consistent resolution to maintenance issues logged during a shift and via verbal instructions. Areas of responsibility include: Security, Pools, Grounds, Hotel Rooms and any other area of the Hotel. The role will include general DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• 3 - 5 Years previous Handyman/Maintenance experience
• Additional qualifications within the field advantageous (Salary Dependent)
• Hands on Problem Solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Effective communication with members of staff as well as Guests of the Hotel
• Honest and trustworthy beyond approach
