Job summary

Apex Group is seeking a Fund Accountant – SA CIS Fund Accounting in Cape Town to manage daily valuations and fund administration within Institutional Funds. You will prepare, review and streamline valuation processes, liaising with clients and audit queries to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.

The role requires a BCom or similar degree, 6–12 months fund accounting experience, and knowledge of asset management products.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–12 months experience in fund accounting or similar background.
• BCom or similar degree in accounting, economics or investments.
• Experience in asset management portfolio administration and pricing preferred.
• Experience with investment products (Unit Trusts, ETFs, pooled products) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Handle income distribution and TER calculations and provide to clients promptly.
• Review processes for continuous improvement and automation opportunities with management input.

Fund Accountant – SA (CIS) Fund Accounting Cape Town

Description

Fund Accountant - SA CIS Fund Accounting must manage to perform fund valuations within the Institutional Funds space. The Fund Accountant will be required to administer the funds efficiently, accurately and within daily deadlines as well as setting up and ensuring checklists and standards are adhered to.

Job specification

Generation and distribution of daily valuation files.

• Responsibility for income distribution and TER calculations and providing them to clients timeously.
• Reviewing all processes to assess continuous improvement and automation opportunities and presenting recommendations to management.
• Responsible for all the daily processes that goes into the fund valuation.
• Communicating and responding to queries internally and from the client, working with the Senior and Team Leader in resolving such queries.
• Dealing with client queries and audit queries.
• Communicating and answering any queries on the funds from the team.
• Performing valuation quality assurance reviews and ensuring consistent quality of output.

Skills Required:

• Have minimum of 6-12 months experience as a fund accountant or a similar background.
• A BCom or similar, accounting, economics or investments background.
• Experience in Asset Management portfolio administration and pricing is preferred.
• Experience with investment products (including Unit Trusts, Multi-Manager, Segregated Portfolios, ETF’s, Pooled products) either locally or internationally an advantage.
• An excellent working knowledge of MS office & IT packages (particularly Excel);
• Knowledge of Invest One, Decalog and Xceptor an advantage.
• Good understanding, knowledge and experience of back-office administration processes and accounting.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Confident, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
• A track record of achievement; and
• To work independently in meeting deadlines and still work within a team environment track record of achievement.
