Job summary

The Apex Group is seeking a Fund Accountant in Cape Town to prepare accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis and manage accounting for multiple funds.

You will reconcile records, liaise with fund managers, brokers and custodians, and support external auditors while delivering high-quality service.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and building strong client relationships within a global asset servicing group.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Commerce with Financial Accounting II or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of hedge funds is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
• Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
• Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
• Support senior team members with audit queries.
• Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.

The Fund Accountant role involves the preparation of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis. The role holder is responsible for the accounting of multiple portfolios, maintaining underlying accounting records, and assisting in the production of financial statements.
