Job summary

The Apex Group in Cape Town is seeking a Fund Accountant to prepare accurate portfolio valuations and manage accounting for multiple funds. The role involves maintaining records, coordinating with managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues, and supporting audit processes.

The ideal candidate holds a Commerce degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong Excel skills, and a detail-oriented, client-focused mindset. An understanding of hedge funds is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Commerce, including Financial Accounting II or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of hedge funds is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
• Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
• Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
• Support senior team members with audit queries.
• Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.

Description

The Fund Accountant role involves the preparation of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis. The role holder is responsible for the accounting of multiple portfolios, maintaining underlying accounting records, and assisting in the production of financial statements.

Job specification
