Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Data Analyst to join a newly formed, fully remote team supporting mining operations nationwide. You will transform large datasets from exploration, production and financial activities into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.

Work independently with stakeholders across departments, build dashboards in Power BI or Tableau, develop predictive models, and communicate findings clearly. 3+ years in data analysis, SQL, and Python/R strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
• 3+ years as a Data Analyst, mining or resource sector preferred.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Advanced data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau) and Excel.
• Experience with Python or R is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from mining operations.
• Develop dashboards and reports to visualize trends and metrics (Power BI/Tableau).
• Identify patterns and opportunities for cost reduction through data analysis.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and management to understand data needs.
• Develop predictive models to forecast production and costs.
• Document methodologies and findings clearly.
