Job summary

Exceed HR and Recruitment is seeking a Producer Accountant for our client in Somerset West. The role focuses on financial record-keeping, reconciliations, and producer account management in the fruit export sector.

Candidates should have a degree or diploma in Accounting, at least 5 years’ experience, and familiarity with Pastel and QX/Prophet. The position requires accuracy, deadlines, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant financial accounting experience.
• Experience with Pastel.
• Experience with QX/Prophet or similar agricultural ERP.
• Strong accounting, financial reporting and reconciliation skills.
• Good understanding of VAT, PAYE, income tax and statutory compliance.
• Proficient Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
• Understanding of the fruit export environment advantageous.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records, general ledger accounts, journals, accruals, and provisions.
• Perform bank, debtor, creditor, and other account reconciliations.
• Manage producer accounts, payments, sales, cost of sales, and fruit-related costs.
• Process invoices, credit notes, supplier payments, and monitor outstanding balances.
• Capture and reconcile financial information across accounting and operational systems (QX/Prophet).
• Manage banking processes, payment schedules, ocean freight, and export-related costs.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE/EMP201, and SARS compliance.
• Support monthly and annual financial reporting, year-end processes, and external audits.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, profitability, and cost-saving initiatives.
