Job summary

Diagnostic Radiological Services Inc. is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented Receptionist for our radiology reception. You will welcome patients, capture data, process quotes and co‑payments, and help coordinate exams and authorisations.

The role requires 2–3 years’ experience in a high‑pressure setting, Grade 12, and reliability with transport. Training, onboarding, and a collaborative team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook is expected.
• 2–3 years' experience in a professional high‑pressure environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical aid and PMB rules will be beneficial.
• POPI Act regulations knowledge is beneficial.
• Own reliable transport is non‑negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge all patients with warmth and friendliness, showing empathy where needed.
• Capture patient information correctly and type at least 6 patients per hour.
• Check medical aid benefits and handle quotes for exams.
• Process co-payments/short payments and obtain necessary authorisations.
• Book patients for CT & MRI scans and provide prep information.
• Process payments for private patients and scan in all relevant documents.
• Support workflow with Radiography Team Leader and Head Office staff.

Your typical day as a Receptionist in a radiology reception environment includes

Receiving patients in a friendly and welcoming manner, capture and/or update their information on the system, provide quotes for exams, take co-payment/short or private payments, provide info for the preparation of exams, handle queries, print patient reports.

• Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Intermediate Word, Excel, Outlook
• 2 - 3 years' experience in a professional high-pressure environment
• Knowledge of medical aid and PMB rules will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of the POPI Act regulations for healthcare will be beneficial
• Own reliable transport, non-negotiable

Main Responsibilities

• Acknowledge all patients with warmth and friendliness, showing empathy where needed
• Capture all patient info correctly, checking info as you type (must be able to capture at least 6 patients per hour)
• Check medical aid benefits
• Do quotes for all exams and take co-payments/short payments by medical aids
• Ensure you understand and follow the protocol for emergency patients, ensure terms and conditions are signed.
• Book patients for CT & MRI scans and provide prep info for CT & MRI exams
• Obtain Authorization for all examinations.
• Process payments for all private patients, walk-in or in-hospital patients, allocate payments to correct invoices
• Obtain and scan in all relevant WCA documents for workplace injuries/diseases
• Scan and attach all relevant documents to the correct patient profile
• Resolving telephonic enquiries
• Work hand in hand with the Radiography Team Leader and Head Office staff to ensure an efficient and affective workflow between all departments
• Participate in monthly staff meetings /small group meetings and make suggestions for improvement

Hours Of Work

Shift rotation on a weekly basis

07h00 - 16h00, 7h30 - 16h30, 08h00 - 17h00, 08h30 - 17h30 & 09h30 - 18h00

Weekend Overtime - Every 4th Weekend

Sat: 08h00 - 18h00 (time off given the morning and OT payment for afternoon).

Sun: 08h00 - 18h00 (paid as OT)
