Job summary

Bright Placements seeks an experienced Sous Chef for a luxury lodge in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal. You will support the Executive Chef, lead a high-volume kitchen, and ensure top-quality presentation and standards for discerning guests.

Fluency in French is highly preferred and the successful candidate will have a hands-on, organised, creative approach, capable of leading a team under pressure.

Qualifications

• Culinary qualification from a recognised culinary institution.
• 3–5 years' experience in a professional kitchen as a Sous Chef.
• Experience in large luxury lodges, safari lodges, hotels or high-end hospitality establishments.
• Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
• Fluent French is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen management and operations.
• Lead, supervise and motivate the kitchen brigade to ensure smooth service.
• Prepare and oversee high-quality dishes to luxury lodge standards.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and food safety throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with menu planning, development and implementation.
