Job summary

Network Finance in Gauteng is seeking a Senior Electronic Embedded Engineer to join a technology-driven engineering environment focused on advanced electronic and embedded systems. You will design, develop and integrate embedded hardware and firmware to meet demanding performance and reliability requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong hardware design capabilities, extensive C/C++ firmware experience and a proven track record across the full product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in electronic hardware design and embedded systems.
• Strong programming skills in embedded C/C++.
• Experience with microcontrollers, embedded processors and interfaces.
• Solid understanding of circuit design, digital and analogue electronics.
• Experience with hardware debugging, firmware development and system testing.
• Ability to interpret schematics, datasheets and technical specs.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate embedded electronic systems, hardware and firmware.
• Develop, test and maintain firmware for microcontrollers and embedded platforms.
• Perform circuit design, schematic capture and PCB design or review.
• Develop firmware in C and/or C++ for embedded applications.
• Work with microcontrollers, processors, interfaces and peripheral devices.
• Conduct hardware bring-up, debugging, fault-finding and system troubleshooting.
• Verify, validate and test to ensure product functionality and reliability.
• Integrate electronic hardware, firmware, sensors and communication modules.
• Analyse technical problems and implement engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain documentation.
• Support prototype development and transition to production.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
