Job summary

IntelliStaff in Benoni, Gauteng, seeks a Foreman to lead and manage the production team on the shop floor. You will ensure safe, high-quality castings and meet production targets while controlling costs and coordinating equipment use.

You will develop employees, drive continuous improvement, and uphold OH&S standards, 5S, and Lean initiatives across daily operations.

Qualifications

• Qualified Moulder or recognised trade qualification relevant to foundry production.
• Supervisory or leadership qualification will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years' foundry production experience.
• Minimum of 5–8 years' supervisory or team leadership experience in a heavy manufacturing or foundry environment.
• Proven experience managing production teams and achieving operational targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and allocate work to employees, communicate targets and expectations, manage attendance and discipline, conduct toolbox talks and meetings, and develop employees and future leaders.
• Execute production plans, achieve daily/weekly/monthly targets, monitor productivity and equipment utilisation, minimise downtime, and ensure accurate production reporting.
• Ensure castings meet customer and company standards, reduce scrap and rework, investigate defects, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OH&S requirements, company procedures and PPE standards; conduct inspections and drive safety culture.
• Set performance expectations, coach employees, identify training needs and conduct performance reviews.
• Apply company policies consistently, manage misconduct and poor performance, and maintain positive employee relations.
• Manage labour, overtime and material costs, reduce waste and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure equipment is used correctly, defects are reported, maintenance is coordinated and downtime is minimised.
• Maintain 5S standards, identify improvement opportunities, conduct root-cause investigations and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Job Purpose

Lead and manage the production team to safely produce quality castings that meet customer specifications, production targets and business objectives. Responsible for people, production, safety, quality, costs, equipment and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
