Placements24 invites applications for an innovative Formulation Scientist to join its pharmaceutical development team in Welkom. The role focuses on designing and optimizing drug formulations to enhance stability, bioavailability, and delivery of therapeutic agents.

You will collaborate with analytical, process development and regulatory teams to advance formulations through development, conduct pre-formulation studies, and optimize dissolution, stability, and excipient choices.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Strong understanding of drug delivery systems, formulation principles, and excipient science.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment for formulation preparation and characterization.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, dissolution testing, and DSC.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to research and development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize stable and effective oral, parenteral, or topical drug formulations for various therapeutic areas.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to understand drug substance characteristics and compatibility.
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate formulation performance, including dissolution testing, stability studies, and bioavailability assessments.
• Utilize various formulation technologies and excipients to achieve desired drug release profiles and product characteristics.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and identify solutions to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
