The Department of Health in South Africa is seeking a hospital kitchen assistant to support meal preparation and dietary needs for patients.

The role requires basic reading/writing, teamwork, and willingness to work shifts including weekends/holidays. Candidates with 1–2 years in a hospital environment and basic food safety knowledge will have an advantage. The position is based in a hospital setting and involves physical tasks requiring strength.

Competenze

• Minimum qualification Grade 10-12.
• Ability to read and write.
• 1–2 years' experience in hospital environment.
• Basic Food Safety and hygiene knowledge.
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
• Prepared to work shifts (weekends/public holidays) be able to rotate when required.
• Male candidate preferred.

Requirements :

• Minimum qualification Grade 10-12, Ability to read and write. Good interpersonal relations and communication skills. 1 - 2 years' experience in hospital Environment will be added advantage, Basic Food Safety and hygiene knowledge. Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure. Prepared to work shifts (weekend and public holiday) be able to rotate when required and work as a reliever in the unit, be physical strong to lift heavy objects. A Male candidate will be given first preference.

Duties :

• Apply a high standard of hygiene as well as safety measures in work environment. To do pre- preparation for both Normal & Therapeutic diets, cook meals for both normal & Therapeutic diets according to the standardized recipes, dish up and according to dietary requirements of patients. Participate in all production processes and correlate all duties to give nutritional care to patients.
