Placements24 is seeking a Lead Procurement Officer in Stellenbosch, Western Cape to oversee a procurement team, shape sourcing strategies, and drive supplier performance for FMCG production.

The role emphasizes strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration with production, R&D, and logistics to meet demand and cost targets, with a focus on sustainability and ethical sourcing.

Qualifications

• For a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with strong procurement knowledge.
• Must have 8+ years in procurement with 3+ in a leadership role in FMCG.
• Experience sourcing raw materials and packaging for consumer goods.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of procurement specialists with performance management.
• Develop and implement strategic sourcing for raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods.
• Negotiate complex contracts with national and international suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and take corrective actions.
• Conduct market analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, risks and cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and ethical sourcing.
• Collaborate with production, R&D, and logistics to align procurement with business goals.
• Coordinate inventory planning with supply chain and operations to meet demand forecasts.
• Oversee tender processes and supplier selections.
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement.
