Job summary

Edge Executive Search Group is seeking an Onsite Driver Supervisor in Gauteng to lead a Driver Salesmen team in a high-volume FMCG bakery distribution environment. You will plan routes, monitor deliveries and ensure stock and cash reconciliation while maintaining customer service standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of operational FMCG experience with supervisory responsibilities, proficiency in Excel, and a valid driver’s licence.

Qualifications

Matric/Grade 12 is essential.
A National Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management or related field is advantageous.
3–5 years’ operational FMCG distribution experience.
1–2 years’ formal supervisory or team-lead experience with people-management responsibility.
Experience managing a team in a high-volume operational environment.
Experience with electronic T&A/WFM platforms such as Workday, SACO, Kronos or equivalent.
Experience using handheld route or sales devices is advantageous.
Strong cash-reconciliation and stock-control capability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Valid Code 08/10 or EC driver’s licence; PrDP advantageous.

Responsibilities

Plan and allocate daily delivery routes across the Driver Salesmen team.
Monitor departure times, route execution, hit rates and on-time delivery.
Oversee stock loading, returns, damages and stales.
Ensure accurate end-of-day stock and cash reconciliation.
Investigate discrepancies and escalate where necessary.
Manage daily driver check-in/out processes.
Monitor vehicle readiness and fleet safety compliance.
Maintain depot housekeeping and operational standards.
Act as first-line escalation for customer complaints and delivery issues.
Resolve route, stock, cash and customer problems in real time.
Manage attendance, leave and overtime via an electronic T&A/WFM system.
Conduct discipline and performance conversations.
Run daily gate meetings and team briefings.
Provide coaching to Driver Salesmen through ride-alongs.
Monitor team performance and support KPIs.
Prepare and report on sales, service, stock and cash accuracy, attendance and other KPIs.
