Job summary

COOPERS CARRIERS is seeking an experienced Fleet, Workshop & Procurement Manager to oversee maintenance, compliance and overall fleet condition. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, fleet reliability, compliance and cost control across Johannesburg and Cape Town operations.

You will manage a workshop team, coordinate limited outsourced maintenance, monitor roadworthy requirements and lifting equipment certifications, and handle procurement, stock and logistics.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain or engineering field.
• Proven experience in fleet management, procurement and workshop oversight.
• Strong computer literacy and recordkeeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Johannesburg workshop and mechanics; coordinate outsourced maintenance.
• Manage tyres, tools, stock, consumables; monitor fuel and fleet efficiency.
• Handle purchasing, quotations and purchase-order administration; ensure compliance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Fleet, Workshop & Procurement Manager to oversee the maintenance, compliance and overall condition of our fleet.

The role has a strong focus on preventative maintenance, fleet reliability, compliance and cost control. Responsibilities include managing the Johannesburg workshop and mechanics, coordinating limited outsourced maintenance and fleet support in Cape Town, ensuring services, roadworthy requirements and lifting equipment certifications remain up to date, managing tyres, tools, workshop stock and consumables, monitoring fuel and fleet efficiency, and handling purchasing, quotations and purchase-order administration.

The successful candidate must be proactive, organised, accountable and computer literate, with the ability to confidently use company systems, spreadsheets, email and electronic recordkeeping. Strong administrative ability is essential.

Experience in heavy vehicles, trailers, workshop management, fleet maintenance and procurement will be advantageous.
