Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a strategic Fleet Operations Manager to oversee the company’s vehicle fleet in Rustenburg, North West. This role requires leadership over drivers and maintenance teams, driving efficiency, safety, and cost control while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will implement route optimization, manage acquisitions, maintenance, and telematics, and collaborate with dispatch and warehousing to optimize operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
• Experience managing a fleet of 50+ vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks.
• In-depth knowledge of South African transport legislation and compliance.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency with fleet management software and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Budget management and cost control experience.
• Residency or willingness to relocate to Rustenburg, North West.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for efficient fleet utilization and route optimization.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of drivers and fleet staff.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial transport laws and regulations.
• Manage vehicle acquisition, maintenance schedules, and repair processes.
• Control fleet-related expenses including fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.
• Implement and monitor safety programs for drivers and the public.
• Utilize fleet management software and telematics to track performance.
• Liaise with internal departments and external service providers.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of fleet activities, including maintenance and mileage.
