Job summary

Oxyon People Solutions is seeking a hands-on Fleet Officer in Johannesburg to strategically manage a large mixed fleet of vehicles, machinery and equipment. You will oversee end-to-end lifecycle activities from acquisition to disposal, drive cost efficiency and ensure compliance with licensing, roadworthiness and AARTO rules.

The role requires strong analytical and commercial acumen, with emphasis on fleet availability, safety, governance and presentation standards.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 7 qualification in Transport Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Fleet Management.
• At least 2–3 years' experience in a middle-management capacity.
• Proven experience managing a large, diverse and owned fleet.
• Experience with vehicles, machinery and/or specialised equipment.
• Proven experience managing the full fleet lifecycle from acquisition to disposal.
• Strong experience in fleet budgeting, cost analysis and financial reporting.
• Experience developing and implementing fleet policies and procedures.
• Experience managing driver behaviour, safety and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of AARTO and transport legislation.
• Advanced knowledge of fleet tracking systems, telematics and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, repairs and lifecycle costing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of vehicles, machinery and fleet equipment.
• Monitor and optimise fleet availability, utilisation and operational performance.
• Develop and manage fleet budgets, including fuel, maintenance and operating costs.
• Analyse fleet costs, including cost per kilometre, fuel efficiency and maintenance costs.
• Monitor vehicle downtime, breakdowns and service compliance.
• Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high operational and presentation standard.
• Ensure vehicles carry the correct and approved company branding.
• Manage fleet compliance, including licensing, renewals, roadworthiness and AARTO requirements.
• Monitor driver behaviour, safety performance and compliance with fleet policies.
• Manage fleet tracking, telematics and related reporting systems.
• Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare fleet performance reports and provide data-driven recommendations to management.
• Develop and monitor fleet lifecycle and replacement plans.
• Manage the disposal of redundant fleet assets, including valuations and auction processes.
• Stay up to date with fleet management technology, legislation and industry trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

About Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end fleet lifecycle, including acquisitions, maintenance, compliance, cost management, performance monitoring and asset disposal.
