Placements24 is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for a leading national logistics and transportation company based in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will oversee the mechanical upkeep of a large vehicle fleet and lead a skilled team to ensure peak reliability and safety across operations.

The role requires a minimum of five years in fleet maintenance or supervisory roles, strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles, and experience with diagnostic tools and fleet management software.

Qualifications

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in fleet maintenance management or a supervisory role in a mechanical workshop.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles, engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and automotive repair tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using fleet management software or maintenance tracking systems.
• A relevant technical qualification (e.g., Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
• Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs effectively.
• Valid driver's license; Code 14 is an advantage.
• Must be able to work shifts if required and be based in or willing to relocate to Vereeniging .

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and technical support.
• Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Oversee all repair and maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
• Manage the inventory of spare parts and workshop supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effectiveness.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and ensure proper repair procedures are followed.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on each vehicle.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workshop.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and service providers for specialized repairs or parts.
• Monitor fleet performance and identify trends to improve maintenance strategies and reduce operational costs.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for the maintenance team.
