Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and adjust equipment to keep production running smoothly.
• Manufacture parts in emergencies to get machines back up and running.
• Produce precise drawings of parts to hand to a manufacturer.
• Operate welding equipment to fuse structural components and assemble systems (MIG, TIG, Arc, CO).
• Participate in standby roster for after-hours support when necessary.

SUMMARY

Our client in the plastic manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Fitter and Turner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform both planned and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment.


• Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime for production.


• Inspect machinery, equipment, and buildings, and carry out scheduled maintenance.


• Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust equipment as necessary to keep production running efficiently.


• Be able to manufacture parts when required in an emergency situation to get the machine up and running.


• Must be able to make drawings of parts with precision to give to a manufacturer.


• Use welding equipment to fuse structural components and assemble mechanical systems - MIG, TIG, Arc, CO, etc


• Participate in a standby roster for after-hours support when necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric/NQF Level 4


• Fitter and Turner Qualification (Trade Test/Red Seal Certified)


• 12+ years of post-apprenticeship maintenance experience in a production environment, preferably within packaging manufacturing.


• Own transport is required.


• Excellent practical and technical skills with a strong focus on detail.
