Job summary

Kerry Kopp Recruitment is seeking a Mid Career Turner in Howick, KwaZulu Natal. You will perform planned and unplanned maintenance, machine components from drawings, and modify equipment to improve capacity. You will operate lathes and milling machines and maintain accurate records of all work.

The role requires a Turner trade test, N2 mechanical theory, and matric. Safety inspections and reporting to the Engineering Manager are essential parts of the job, with a permanent, full-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• Matric with theory training in mechanical trade (N2 level).
• Trade Test of Turner certification.
• Grade 12 completion is required.

Main Job Responsibilities

• Attend to planned and unplanned maintenance on machinery.
• Attend to breakdowns with the utmost urgency.
• Carry out machining of components from drawings and samples supplied.
• Modify and improve existing equipment and plant to optimize capacity.
• Operate lathes, milling machines, and other workshop machines.
• Accurately record all work done on job cards or maintenance schedules.
• Report any mechanical issues to the Engineering Manager.
• Carry out safety inspections on equipment and plant.
• Undertake any reasonable requests of the Mechanical Foreman.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 (Matric) Theory training in mechanical trade, equivalent to N2.
• Qualified with Trade Test of Turner.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Thorough knowledge of machining practices and materials.
