Job summary

Smart4 Energy in Cape Town, Western Cape, seeks an experienced Fire BIM Modeller to develop detailed BIM models for fire protection and services. You will work across commercial and complex buildings, focusing on Revit modelling and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of BIM/Revit modelling experience.

• Knowledge of SA fire standards and building regs is beneficial.

Fire BIM Modeller – Building Services

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Fire BIM Modeller to join a multidisciplinary building-services engineering team in Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed BIM models and technical drawings for fire protection and fire services systems across commercial and complex building projects.

This position requires someone with strong Revit capability combined with practical experience modelling and documenting fire protection systems within a building-services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed BIM models for fire protection and fire services systems using Autodesk Revit.
• Produce coordinated fire-services layouts, drawings, sections, details and schedules.
• Model fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels, fire water reticulation and associated systems.
• Produce technical drawings from engineering designs and specifications.
• Coordinate fire services with mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Perform BIM coordination and identify potential clashes between services.
• Assist engineers with the development of coordinated fire protection designs.
• Develop and maintain Revit families, templates and project-specific BIM information where required.
• Produce documentation through concept, detailed design, tender, construction and as-built stages.
• Ensure models and drawings comply with project BIM standards and internal quality requirements.
• Participate in design and BIM coordination meetings.
• Liaise with engineers and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and coordination issues.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years' relevant BIM / Revit modelling experience.
• Demonstrable experience specifically within fire protection / fire services.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Experience with sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, fire water reticulation or related fire protection systems.
• Previous experience within consulting engineering, MEP, fire engineering or building services preferred.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
• Ability to interpret engineering designs, technical specifications and construction documentation.
• Relevant Draughting, BIM, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering or Engineering Technology qualification advantageous.
• Knowledge of relevant South African fire standards and building regulations would be advantageous.

Ideal Project Exposure

Experience on commercial developments, shopping centres, hospitals, hotels, high-rise buildings, data centres, industrial facilities, warehouses, residential developments or other complex building projects would be highly relevant.
