Job summary

Black Pen Recruitment is seeking a FinCrime Insights & Systems Analyst for a fintech/payments-focused role in Johannesburg. You will shape AML/fraud data strategy, develop detection signals, dashboards, and proactive rules across fiat and crypto in multiple jurisdictions.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and AML teams to deliver timely, regulator-ready insights and scalable tooling, while applying SQL and BI tools to accelerate investigations and strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Financial Crime function (AML, fraud) in fintech/payments or crypto.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing large datasets.
• Hands-on dashboard/BI experience building & maintaining reporting.
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools for typology detection or anomaly detection.
• A genuine interest in evolving fraud/AML typologies across fiat and crypto rails.
• Ability to translate regulatory reporting requirements into practical workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end AML and fraud reporting framework and alerting framework across fiat and crypto, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and regulator-ready across all jurisdictions.
• Be the critical insights engine behind AML and fraud teams, giving data, dashboards, and analysis to investigate faster and decide with confidence.
