Job summary

Headhunters is seeking an experienced Financial Manager for a leading mining organisation based in Sandhurst, Gauteng. The role requires extensive finance leadership, IFRS knowledge, and cross-functional engagement with executive management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6–8 years in finance management, 3+ years in mining, an MBA, and CA(SA) or CIMA qualifications. Regular travel to Northern Cape and North West operations is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years' progressive finance management experience.
• Minimum 3 years' finance management experience within the mining industry.
• MBA qualification.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CA(SA) or CIMA qualification.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role between the mine and Head Office.
• Strong experience in establishing systems, policies and procedures.
• Management experience, including warehouse and stock management.
• Creditors optimization and payroll oversight.
• Regular travel to operations in the Northern Cape and North West.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full finance function within a mining or mineral processing environment.
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
• Cost control and operational profitability analysis.
• Treasury and cash flow management.
• Tax compliance, VAT and mining royalty legislation.
• Internal and external audit management.
• Development and implementation of financial controls and SOPs.
• Lead finance teams.
• Financial modelling for mine acquisitions, expansions, and project feasibility studies.
• Cross-border finance, foreign exchange management, and trade finance.
• ESG financial reporting.
• Multi-entity financial consolidation.
• Engage confidently with executive management, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, SAP, Oracle or equivalent ERP systems.
• Proven experience leading finance teams.
• Ability to engage confidently with executive management, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.
• Chrome, manganese, coal, or similar mining operations.
• Mining trading or commodity trading environments.
• Working within multinational organisations and cross-cultural environments.
