Job summary

Hewitt Colenbrander Recruitment in Gauteng seeks a seasoned financial leader to direct the group’s financial functions, establishing internal controls, policies, and risk management aligned with IFRS for SMEs and regulatory requirements.

You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, GL and asset oversight, and tax/audit management, partnering with senior teams to drive performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Lead the group's financial functions with internal control systems and policy management.
• Prepare annual financial statements and monthly management accounts to drive decisions.
• Direct budgeting and quarterly forecasting with strict spend monitoring.
• Manage cash flow and working capital to maintain liquidity.
• Oversee general ledger, asset registers, and intercompany balances.
• Coordinate external audits and SARS tax submissions (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).

Job description

Technical Competencies & Experience

• Financial Leadership & Governance: Lead the group's financial functions, establishing strict internal control systems, policies, and a finance risk register to ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs, SARS, CIPC, and COIDA regulations.
• Financial Reporting & Management Accounts: Own the preparation of annual financial statements and present comprehensive monthly management accounts (comparing actuals vs. budgets) to drive key business decisions.
• Budgeting & Cost Control: Direct business units through the budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, strictly monitoring actual spend against budget to manage deviations and prevent unauthorised expenditure.
• Cash Flow & Working Capital Management: Prepare weekly cash flow requirements and review the balance sheet monthly to analyse working capital performance and maintain a favourable liquidity position.
• General Ledger & Asset Oversight: Oversee the accuracy of the general ledger by reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, payroll, supplier payments, fixed asset registers, and intercompany balances.
• Tax & Audit Management: Manage external audit processes to ensure timely completion with zero repeat findings, while overseeing all SARS tax submissions (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and deferred tax).
