Placements24 is partnering with a prominent financial services organization in Centurion, Gauteng, to hire an experienced Financial Controller for a hybrid schedule. You will oversee the accounting function, ensure IFRS/GAAP compliance, and drive accurate financial reporting and control processes.

You will lead the accounting team, coordinate audits, manage budgeting and forecasting, and collaborate with senior management to support strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting/financial management with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and local standards.
• Experience with audits, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, and payroll.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per IFRS/GAAP.
• Develop policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting with department heads.
• Monitor variances and advise on corrective actions.
• Ensure timely tax filing and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Develop and mentor accounting team.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent financial services organization based in Centurion, Gauteng, ZA , is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller . This hybrid position requires a professional with a strong command of accounting principles and financial reporting standards to oversee the financial operations of the company. The role involves a mix of remote work and in-office presence, ensuring effective team collaboration and strategic oversight. As a Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining robust internal controls. This is an excellent opportunity to lead financial operations within a growing company.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and improve efficiency.
• Coordinate and manage the external audit process, serving as a key point of contact for auditors.
• Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop accurate financial plans.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Implement and maintain effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Manage and develop the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as needed by senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CPA) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local accounting standards.
• Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience in the Banking & Finance sector is highly advantageous.
• Must be able to work effectively in a hybrid arrangement, attending meetings and collaborating with teams in the Centurion, Gauteng, ZA office as required.
