Job summary

Clarkhouse Human Capital is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to provide hands-on financial oversight through the 2026 year-end for a global FMCG business with a small South African operation. The role is based in Johannesburg North and requires a practical, detail-focused approach to strengthening finance processes.

The role covers balance sheet integrity, month-end close, financial controls, statutory compliance, tax, SARS, external audit, stock and revenue reviews, and close

Qualifications

• Must have strong financial accounting and control experience.
• Solid IFRS, tax and statutory knowledge.
• Proven experience improving finance processes and controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Balance Sheet integrity, reconciliations and month-end close.
• Manage financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Identify gaps, risks and opportunities to improve finance function.
• Ensure statutory, tax and SARS compliance.
• Coordinate external audit and year-end requirements.
• Review stock, COGS and revenue-related processes.

Looking for an experienced Financial Controller to provide financial oversight and control through the 2026 year-end for a global FMCG business with a small South African operation.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who can quickly understand a finance function, assess the quality of the numbers and controls, identify where attention is needed and make practical improvements.

What you’ll own

• Balance Sheet integrity, reconciliations and month-end close
• Financial controls, processes and reporting
• Identifying and addressing gaps, risks and opportunities to improve
• Statutory, tax and SARS requirements
• External audit and year-end requirements
• Stock, COGS and revenue-related reviews
• Cash flow and financial oversight
• Working closely with the GM and international finance team

What you’ll bring

• Strong financial accounting and control experience
• Relevant accounting qualification; CA(SA) or CIMA advantageous
• Solid IFRS, tax and statutory knowledge
• Proven experience improving finance processes and controls
• Strong Balance Sheet and audit experience
• Confidence to challenge, investigate and make recommendations
• FMCG, manufacturing or stock-based experience advantageous

3 days per week | 6-month contract
