Responsibilities

• Manage month-end reporting, management packs, variance analysis, budgets and forecasts.

• Oversee inventory costing and fixed asset management.
• Ensure accurate and timely tax, statutory and audit compliance.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Develop and maintain effective financial controls and SOPs.
• Liaise with banks, auditors and other external stakeholders.
• Provide financial analysis and support to the business.
• Own the calculation, reconciliation and payment of sales commissions.

The Opportunity

A well-established business within the FMCG sector is looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of its financial reporting, controls, working capital and compliance functions. This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded finance professional who is confident working across the business and engaging with senior stakeholders, sales representatives and external parties.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end reporting, management packs, variance analysis, budgets and forecasts.


• Oversee balance sheet, debtors, creditors and payroll reconciliations.


• Manage daily cash flow, working capital and payment processes.


• Oversee inventory costing and fixed asset management.


• Ensure accurate and timely tax, statutory and audit compliance.


• Coordinate internal and external audits.


• Develop and maintain effective financial controls and SOPs.


• Liaise with banks, auditors and other external stakeholders.


• Provide financial analysis and support to the business.


• Own the calculation, reconciliation and payment of sales commissions, working closely with the Commercial and Sales teams.


• Investigate and resolve commission queries and ensure accurate supporting documentation and audit trails.


• Relevant experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance position.


• Fluent/conversant in Afrikaans – essential, given the nature of the business and stakeholder environment.


• Strong working knowledge of Sage Evolution.


• Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills.


• Strong understanding of inventory costing and working capital management.


• Experience with budgets, forecasts, cash flow, tax, statutory compliance and audits.


• Experience with sales commission calculations and administration will be highly advantageous.


• Manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential.


• Smartsheet and/or Finnivo experience would be beneficial.
