About the Role

This role is integral to the Faculty of Commerce, responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction in financial accounting principles and practices to undergraduate students. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials on financial accounting topics. Design, mark, and moderate assignments, examinations, and other assessments. Provide academic guidance and support to students, including mentoring and career advice. Contribute to curriculum development and review processes within the department. Stay abreast of current developments and best practices in financial accounting and reporting. Engage in research and scholarly activities relevant to the field of accounting. Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and institutional events. Supervise student research projects and dissertations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS). Foster an environment of academic integrity and critical thinking among students. Requirements Master's degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting, or a related field. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA) is highly advantageous. Minimum of 4 years of experience in teaching financial accounting at the tertiary level or relevant industry experience. In-depth knowledge of financial accounting theory and practice, including IFRS. Excellent pedagogical skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems. A commitment to student success and academic excellence. Ability to work effectively within a diverse academic community in Vereeniging, Gauteng . Evidence of research output or a willingness to engage in research is desirable.
