Financial Accountant (SAICA / SAIPA)
A well-established, independent accounting practice in Hermanus is looking for a dedicated Financial Accountant to join their professional team. This full-service firm is known for providing objective audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client base across the Overberg region. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or newly qualified professional to move beyond basic data entry and take on a strategic role in financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Audit and Compliance
- Assist with financial auditing services to ensure client statements meet International Auditing Standards and the Companies Act requirements.
- Help prepare transparent financial communications for banks, investors, and shareholders.
Tax Administration
- Oversee tax registration and planning for individuals and businesses.
- Manage SARS submissions, VAT201 returns, and audit liaisons.
- Handle calculations and returns for Income Tax, Dividends Tax, Estate Tax, and Security Tax.
- Administer payroll taxes including PAYE, UIF, and SDL (EMP201).
Advisory and Management Accounting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and performance reports.
- Conduct real-time tracking of business health against budgets and growth plans.
- Partner with clients to implement and review financial strategies that improve commercial outcomes.
Professional Requirements
- Qualifications: Current SAICA or SAIPA membership (newly qualified or junior candidates are encouraged to apply).
- Experience: Previous experience within a professional accounting firm environment is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in modern accounting software and a deep understanding of current South African tax and audit legislation.
