Job summary

Momentum is seeking a seasoned finance leader to oversee the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, solvency, cost control and delivering value to members. The role aligns financial activities with strategic objectives and operational efficiency in a regulated environment.

You will manage cash flow, budgeting, statutory reporting under the Medical Schemes Act, IFRS compliance, and drive improvements in controls and processes to support decision-making and performance.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting or Financial Management or related degree.
• Registered Chartered Accountant with SAICA (CA(SA)).
• 3–5 years of experience in Finance Management.
• Minimum 3 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge of the Medical Aid Industry is compulsory.
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards is compulsory.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial reporting to align with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes, communicating implications.
• Review and present financial information, including management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Manage cash flow planning and financial instruments, ensuring funds availability.
• Review financial reports, monitor accounts, and prepare forecasts.
• Oversee budgeting, auditing, tax-related material, and statutory submissions.
• Develop and monitor financial controls and procedures.
• Communicate potential risks in a timely manner.
• Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
• Monitor solvency ratios and other key financial metrics.
• Facilitate appropriate insurance coverage.
• Champion improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
• Understand Scheme drivers impacting financial results to inform analysis and recommendations.
• Analyse past trends to support forecasting and target setting.
