The candidate is comfortable with business intelligence tools and passionately partners with the business to identify strategic opportunities where data-backed insights drive value creation. - Build review routines with the local business, including roll‑out and training on related tools
- Own and develop robust mechanisms to inspect growth and profitability of our business, working closely with related business teams
- Establish controllership and approval mechanisms to manage day‑to‑day profitability
- Invent, simplify, and automate management reporting, working closely with owners in business and Business Intelligence teams across the Amazon world
- Provide strategic guidance, tactical direction, and decision support to business and finance partners

A day in the life
As a Finance Managers at this level, you take a hands‑on role to boost our business performance and efficiency. You establish tight controls over our financials and develop a deep understanding of the mechanics behind our data, ensuring financial reporting is always accurate. You'll collaborate with partners in different areas worldwide to provide insights on improvements in our operational performance. That will involve deep diving into data, managing our planning processes, and giving team members guidance on more ambiguous areas of our financial environment.
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making
- Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
- Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented, motivated and commercially minded Junior Financial Manager to join their finance team in Century City.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a solid grounding in accounting principles who is ready to take the next step in their career and gain greater exposure to management accounts, financial reporting and broader finance management responsibilities.
The successful candidate will occupy a varied role, balancing higher‑level responsibilities such as preparing management accounts and financial analysis with hands‑on financial processing when required. The position offers the opportunity to develop into a more senior finance management role within a supportive environment.
Management Accounts & Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, including:
- Income statements
- Balance sheets
- Cash flow statements
- Prepare supporting schedules and financial reconciliations.
- Perform budget-versus-actual variance analysis and highlight key movements for management review.
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end .financial close processes.
- Prepare and process journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and management presentations.
- Provide accurate financial information and analysis to support business decision‑making
- Process day‑to‑day financial transactions accurately and timeously.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Capture and accurately code invoices, payments and receipts on the accounting system.
- Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations where required.
- Maintain accurate, complete and up‑to‑date financial records.
- Ensure finance documentation and filing systems are properly maintained.
Compliance & Financial Controls
- Ensure financial transactions are processed in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
- Apply relevant accounting principles and standards to financial processing and reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of information and supporting documentation for:
- VAT and tax submissions
- Statutory requirements
- Internal and external audits
- Identify discrepancies, irregularities and potential control weaknesses and elevate these appropriately.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
Finance Support & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Financial Manager / Head of Finance to ensure the smooth running of the finance function.
- Liaise with other departments regarding financial information, queries and reporting requirements.
- Respond to internal finance‑related queries professionally and efficiently.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and finance projects.
- Support the wider finance team with additional responsibilities as required.
- Relevant degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- A BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
- Studying towards or holding a professional finance qualification such as SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA or CA(SA) would be advantageous.
- 1--3 years' relevant experience within an accounting or finance environment.
- Exposure to the preparation of management accounts is preferred.
- Practical experience in general financial processing, including:
- Accounts payable

- Exposure to month‑end and year‑end processes would be advantageous.
