Job summary

The Foschini Group (TFG) invites a Finance Business Analyst to join the Finance Automation Team in Cape Town. You will translate business finance needs into scalable automation solutions, optimise processes, and support transaction processing, reporting and compliance within an agile environment.

You will gather requirements, map processes, and collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver fit-for-purpose finance automation, driving efficiency and control across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• Experience analyzing finance processes and translating requirements into documentation.
• Strong understanding of core finance processes (budgeting, forecasting, reporting, reconciliations, month-end close).
• Experience supporting finance systems such as SAP.
• Excellent analytical, communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• 4+ years in Finance business analysis, process flow, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assess, analyse and optimise end-to end business processes in finance by documenting requirements and assessing current rules to identify automation possibilities.
• Determine whether problems are best solved through AI-driven automation, rules-based automation, redesign or human-led activities.
• Support the design of finance automation, human-in-the-loop solutions and conversational AI journeys.
• Provide recommendations for improving processes by conducting analysis and identifying alternatives.
• Redesign and reengineer Finance processes to deliver optimal automation.
• Maintain documentation related to process maps, requirements, specifications, testing and sign-off.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions in an Agile environment.

We are seeking a skilled Finance Business Analyst to join our TFG Finance Automation Team. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving effectiveness, optimisation, and continuous improvement of our automation initiatives, supporting key financial processes such as transaction processing, reporting, and compliance.

This position operates at the intersection of business and technology, requiring strong capabilities in requirements gathering, process analysis, and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for translating business needs into scalable automation solutions, ensuring alignment between operational objectives and technical delivery, and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and control within the finance function.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical and documentation skills, experience working with automation technologies and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams in a dynamic financial environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, analyse and optimise end-to end business processes that are signed off by the business by documenting finance business process requirements through research, interviews or facilitation sessions and assessing current business processes, procedures and business rules to identify finance automation possibilities
• Assessing whether problems are best solved through: AI‑driven automation, traditional rules‑based automation, process or system redesign and Human‑led activities
• Supporting the design of finance automation, human‑in‑the‑loop solutions and conversational AI journeys
• Provide recommendations for improving processes by conducting analysis an identify alternative solutions
• Redesign and reengineer existing Finance business processes to deliver optimal Automation
• Maintain documentation related to process maps, business requirements, functional and technical specification, system development, testing and go-live sign off
• Manage the process of compiling business and functional specification documents
• Collaborating with business stakeholders, product teams and technology to deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions
• Accumulate information to review work progress that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities
• Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with relevant peers and stakeholders to achieve productivity
• Contributing to user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery artefacts in an Agile environment

Key Performance Areas:

Business analysis and data modelling

• - Gathers and analyses information from a variety of sources to inform the business

• - Conducts and/or support change management of finance processes

Reporting

• - Provides reports on assigned work/deliverables
• - Develop, maintain and distribute finance business process documentation

Requirements & Experience:

• A Relevant tertiary qualification or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
• Experience analysing finance business processes and translating requirements into clear documentation
• Strong understanding of core finance processes (budgeting, forecasting, reporting, reconciliations, month-end close)
• Demonstrated experience working with or supporting finance systems (ERP systems such as SAP)
• Skills: Analytical, problem solving, communications, facilitation, interpersonal & relationship management, Negotiation skills as well as planning, organising and coordination skills
• 4+ years of experience in Finance business analysis, process flow and business process improvement
