Time Personnel in Germiston is seeking a hands-on Technical Sales Representative to bridge our fastening range with engineers, fabricators and procurement teams — ensuring production runs smoothly.

You will go beyond order-taking, understanding each customer’s application, recommending the right product, material and setting solution, and backing advice with real technical knowledge. Field visits and KPI-driven targets are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• 3-5 years’ experience in similar role.
• Valid South African driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
• Proactive and driven to find new business.
• Comfortable prospecting, cold calling and approaching new customers.
• Confident visiting factories, workshops and industrial customers.
• Technically minded and comfortable with tools and equipment.
• Strong at building and maintaining customer relationships.
• Self-motivated and able to manage own time and customer base.
• Target-driven and commercially minded.
• Strong communicator who follows through on commitments.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the industrial, manufacturing and engineering sectors.
• Conduct proactive prospecting, cold calling and customer outreach to generate new sales opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
• Conduct regular customer visits to factories, workshops and industrial sites to understand customer requirements and identify opportunities.
• Assess customer applications and recommend appropriate products, riveting tools, equipment and technical solutions.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s product range and provide customers with accurate product information and advice.
• Demonstrate products and equipment to customers and provide guidance on correct usage and applications.
• Assist customers with basic technical queries and troubleshoot product or equipment-related issues where required.
• Prepare and follow up on quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities through to completion.
• Maintain accurate customer records, sales activities and pipeline information.
• Monitor and manage a portfolio of existing customers while continuously developing new business.
• Keep up to date with industry developments, competitor activity, customer needs and new product offerings.
• Achieve agreed sales targets, budgets and key performance indicators.
• Attend customer meetings, trade shows, exhibitions and industry-related events where required.
• Provide regular feedback to management regarding market opportunities, customer requirements, competitor activity and potential new business.
