Placements24 is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our client’s team in Port Elizabeth, focused on power generation equipment. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of power generation systems, ensuring reliability of critical energy infrastructure in diverse field environments.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on generators and turbines, install new equipment, test/calibrate per specs, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or certification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as Field Service Technician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on power generation equipment including generators and turbines.
• Install new equipment and calibrate/test per manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot field issues to minimize downtime for clients.
• Conduct safety inspections and comply with regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and parts used.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on power generation equipment , including generators, turbines, and associated control systems.
• Install new equipment and ensure proper calibration and testing according to manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field, minimizing downtime for clients.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs performed, and parts used.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar role, with specific experience in power generation or heavy machinery.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record; willingness to travel frequently within the region.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a commitment to safety.
