You will perform routine inspections, diagnose issues, conduct repairs, and provide concise service reports. Travel across the Soweto region is required, with a company vehicle and fuel allowance provided.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician or Technician with a valid trade test.
• 3–4 years in field service, preferably solar PV or renewables.
• Strong electrical understanding of DC/AC circuits and inverter tech.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and manuals; travel-ready.
• Excellent communication and customer-service orientation.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing company at the forefront of renewable energy solutions, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their operational team in Soweto, Gauteng. This role is crucial for providing on-site technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for renewable energy installations, primarily solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of deployed systems, conducting regular inspections, and performing necessary repairs. The ideal candidate possesses strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for renewable energy. This is a full-time, field-based position requiring extensive travel within the Soweto region and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, and mounting structures.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician or Technician with a relevant Trade Test or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in field service, preferably within the solar PV or broader renewable energy sector.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, DC/AC circuits, and inverter technology.
• Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical components.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel extensively within the service area.
