About the Role

Our client, a key player in maintaining critical coastal infrastructure, is seeking a dedicated Field Maintenance Technician to join their team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is essential for the upkeep and operational integrity of specialized equipment and systems vital to the region’s port and industrial operations. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This is a hands-on position requiring a practical understanding of industrial machinery and a commitment to ensuring maximum uptime and safety. The ideal candidate will be proactive, resourceful, and capable of working independently in a demanding environment. You will play a critical role in supporting the smooth functioning of essential services within the Richards Bay area. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on all assigned mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Requirements

• A relevant trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter and Turner) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a heavy industry or port environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with hydraulic systems is highly advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work shifts and be on call as needed within Richards Bay.
